Black Mass is an upcoming 2015 American crime film written by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth and directed by Scott Cooper, based on the 2001 book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob written by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill. The film stars Johnny Depp, Kevin Bacon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Sienna Miller and Dakota Johnson.
Principal photography of the film began on May 19, 2014 in Boston, and wrapped up on August 1, 2014 in Boston. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. worldwide on September 18, 2015.
